Introduction to Global Citizenship Education

Introduction to Global Citizenship Education is a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) developed by Bridge47 and the International Cooperation Centre. The aim of the course is twofold. Firstly, to provide a general introduction to the basic concepts, the different approaches and some possible applications of Global Citizenship Education (GCE). Secondly, to present the experience developed by the three Bridge 47 Knowledge Exchange Partnerships (KEPs) in relation to the development of appropriate, inclusive models to address the dissemination, teaching, and researching GCE in global society.

The course, intended both for neophytes to GCE and for more experienced participants, helps to understand what GCE is, where does it come from, what are its potential and how it can be a powerful perspective from which to address the complexities of global society.

The course is structured in 6 modules, dedicated to GCE, plus 3 modules dedicated the KEPs.

FUNCTIONING OF THE MOOC

Methodology

Introduction to Global Citizenship Education is a self-learning massive online open course. Every step of the course (from presentation of the contents to evaluation) will take place exclusively on the e-learning platform. At every step, specific information and directions will be available

The course is structured in 6 consecutive MODULES.

Every MODULE contains:

  • A VIDEOLESSON

  • A folder with the SLIDES and READINGS

  • SELF-EVALUATION AND REFLECTION EXERCISE

  • A selection of materials to further explore the module's topic

Subsequent modules will become available only once the Self-Evaluation and Reflection Exercises of the previous module has been completed.

Please note that the Self-Evaluation and Reflection Exercises will not be graded. Their scope is to allow  participants to asses their comprehension of the modules's contents.

Once all 6 modules are completed, it will be possible to access to the END OF THE COURSE MODULE which includes a FINAL SELF-EVALUATION TEST a  SATISFACTION SURVEY. Once this final two activities will be completed the ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE will become available.

The modules dedicated to the three KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE PARTNERSHIPS are always available. No specific activities are included.


Enrolment and duration of the course

It is possible to start the course at any moment and for free.

To enroll, it is necessary to create a personal profile on the platform and to register to the course.

Once started, there will a maximum of 90 days time to complete the course. In the case the course it is not completed within the given time, the registration will be cancelled.
